Ay-yay-yay. Let's be positive here!
1. It was not SMU's Homecoming
2. Our blocked punt streak continues (#1 in NCAA! Huzzah!). We also attempted an onside kick, can you believe it?! Yay us!
3. Larry Dace caught the first touchdown of his career, yay! Roll Wave! (Game photos by Nathan Hunsinger, Dallas Morning News)
4. My boots were cute, and I love my Coach Hullabaloo who puts up with this nonsense because it's my alma mater and he loves me and wants to see me happy.
5. Jordy Joseph scored us two touchdowns, Bam Bam!
6. Parry Nickerson will not let us down
7. The hot chocolate at Gerald J. Ford Stadium was hot, plentiful, and not watery, yumm-o. I had about 3 cups and it helped me stay toasty warm #winning . Also, I got to enjoy another football outing with my dad. and we looked cute all bundled up. He's behind me and Mrs.Preacherman wearing the silly orange cap. Oy Daddy :-)
8. The brisket and ribs at Pecan Lodge are by far the best we've had in Texas. They were perfection. Even Rick Dickson would approve of this restaurant review in the midst of a football discussion.
9. David Vitter is, thankfully, not going to be an Ex-Officio Board Member of the Tulane Educational Fund #pheeeeeew
(Unless Vitter decides to run for Mayor of New Orleans or Superintendent of Public Education)
10. and lastly: Because Baseball Season
Anywhoozies....Last night, I hope and pray, is finally, mercifully, the beginning of the end. Please, please, please Saint Vince GibEllenderRink. Not really a saint, but I include them Greenies in my prayers.
I really dislike looking back four years ago when some people vehemently disagreed with me about my negative nelly-ing about the hiring of Coach Johnson. Even Sean Payton got on my case and called me out on the news. And y'all I gave it my best shot to get on the bandwagon and show my support. I hate to say "I told you so" but I told you so.
One last commentary. I have refrained from blogging out my mouth about the AD search, but I will add the following. I was forwarded an email early last week from a friend of Arnie Fielkow disseminating his "blueprint" as a last ditch effort to spark outrage that he wasn't getting an interview. Before the Eric Asher implosion. I read the blueprint and was woefully unimpressed. Not with the validity of the ideas, but with the lack of specifics. I thought the blueprint was quaint and naive in the same way that Rick Dickson's "Playbook" was quaint. We are going to win the AAC championship! Mmkay, how? Honorary Faculty Captains for All! Very nice. Corporate Sponsorships! win, and they will come say I.
Did you see everyone coming out the woodwork for the opening game at Yulman? Like hello there! Thank you for noticing there is a college team in New Orleans. If I can scrape up boss donations for my piddly little silent auction with our pitiful W-L record, just imagine what will pour in when we are winning!
People are ready and waiting to do their part, Tulane needs to step up and do it's part.
So anyways, I was completely turned off by the manuevering. Very unseemly and below the fray. And that made me sad, because Arnie was my dream candidate. I will, however, thank him for bringing it to our attention that Women's Soccer will be added. Yay!
So my little cabbages, I think the best part about this road trip to Dallas for the SMU game was the banana pudding I had from Hard 8 BBQ. They crumbled the nilla wafers up into fine crumbs and covered the top of the pudding, and then the pudding part was custard-ish almost like creme brulee. Deeeeeelish, I shall be trying to replicate this for tailgating some time because banana pudding makes everything better.
Thank goodness for BBQ.
- Mrs. Hullabaloo - the ultimate tailgate hostess
- This is primarily a Tulane football blog, although I do occasionally comment on all matters Tulane that may or may not be any of my business. I love following Tulane Greenwave football, zing-zang Bloody Marys, hostessing cute tailgating parties, and life in New Orleans. It's fabulous. oh and I adore Mr. Hullabaloo. PS This blog is not affiliated in any way "officially" with Tulane University or Tulane Athletics. It is purely the crazy antics and obsessions of Mr. and Mrs. Hullabaloo who love them some greenwave (I say tee-ay (!) y'all).

The Hip Replacement
Our last game against The Ponies, just like our last game against the Horned Toads....A WIN! It's our signature way to bid adieu: "Au Revoir! Have Fun in Your New Conference! Remember Us!"
While I did a major booty shake and I plan to put my new cute Roll Wave pin on my pyjamas for sweet dreams, TPTB better not be thinking that this now excuses them from continuing to mail it in. Although Rick Dickson is probably currently on his knees doing a Tim Tebow at Marie Laveau's tomb in complete relief that his Dreidel Talk on the 16th will be slightly less contentious.
Anyways, another complete winner today was our tailgate which was awesome.
I simply cannot take complete credit for such cuteness. I got inspiration from Oh My Goodness Gracious. and Coach Hullabaloo slaved over my new fleur de lis waffle maker while I fussed at him that we were running late. (so thank you Coach Hullabaloo for putting up with my obsessions)
The drink comes from Helen Gurley Brown! Yes! Im reading the book that launched her to fame and it was her signature brunch beverage. Take 6 coffee cups and boil down to one cup, then mix with a quart of vanilla ice cream and half to full fifth (depending on your tolerance!) of liquor of your choice. I used Bourbon. Sprinkle the top of each drink with ground nutmeg. And then warn your guests, girl!
One of the funniest things from the game was that when we had a clear lead, I was sitting with Mr. and Mrs. Circe and I started calling the plays. It was quelle hilarious. SMU was fixin to kick another Field Goal and I started cheering "Block That Kick! Block That Kick!" and then we did! And so our next posession I swept my arm up and over and pointed to our endzone and yelled "Go Long!" and then we did! One of our neighbors in the section asked me what the powerball numbers were going to be tonight. I'm so sure! ha ha!
With these play predictions, I joked with Circe that next game I would make myself a witch's hat and a Greenwave colored broom (Wilson Center would so love that, you know, that I actually do have a witch's broom).
So anyways, your happy final

Last of the Mohicans
We were having fun doing some cheers at the game yesterday.
"I screen, YOU screen, We ALL scream for NO SCREEN!" (because, lawd, if Up The Middle weren't enough)
And then we actually had some witty cheers going for our 11 first downs. Preacherman came up with this "Tulane, four lanes, six lanes a highway! Drive! Drive! Drive!"
So funny!
Although the fans around me were ready to burst into flames if they saw another screen pass play. Which was either dropped for an incomplete pass or intercepted for a touchdown.
I think the fans that are left and haven't been chased off just yet (because despite the prayer chain at Wilson Center, I am not going away) should fly airplane banners around the Superdome for Homecoming. Lighten up the mood a little, "PLEASE PLAY 11 MEN EVERY DOWN" "WE WILL NOT GO ACROSS THE STREET"
or something to this effect. Funny? No? okay, just an idea. I don't say that all my ideas are good.
Anyways, I finally debriefed Caoch Hullabaloo over Jewish Coonasses at Brunch this morning about his evening of sideline reporting for Hullabaloo Huddle. In an un-official, unpaid, capacity of course. The jury is still out if he has the fortitude to be extended an internship opportunity here.
When I finally got into the stadium yesterday, I decided I would watch the game from the stands. We had sideline passes, but the stupid student section was all riled up, we were in unforgiving path of the afternoon sun, and there was nowhere to manuever down there. So I let Coach Hullabaloo play on the sidelines without me so I could sit and chat with friends in the stands.
Coach Hullabaloo feels that all is not lost - we needn't slit our wrists just yet. There are indeed players who are playing their hearts out and he sees a glimmer of hope for improvement.
We were both in agreement about the disarray of play calling, players clearly unsure about their assignments, our aggravating stack of delay of game penalties (to the point that the fans in the stands started shouting vocal countdowns 10! 9! 8! 7 6! ..etc), and this business of 10 men on the field for 7 friggin' plays. None of us at Tulane were expecting a coaching staff that needed on the job training, and so these elements of sloppy skippering have us most disconcerted.
But what had me literally rolling in laughter today was Coach Hullabaloo who did a live reenactment of Justin Shackleford catching the long bomb for our touch down drive.
For that particular drive, Coach Hullabaloo happened to move to the other side of the benches anticipating that we would finally, thankfully, GO LONG. and Miracle of miracles, we did. So Coach Hullabaloo was actually facing #80 when the ball came sailing into his bucket.
pictures from Parker Waters are here. They are really good. He's an awesome photog.
Coach Hullabaloo recounted how the ball actually traveled down to about Shackleford's waist before he pulled it back up again towards his chest and that the look on his face at the precise instant of contact with the ball was a mixture of shock, surprise and panic. As if saying "OMG, Tulane has completed a Pass! There's Nothing But Green Space in front of US. and We're not fixing to get buried in a gang tackle!"
Coach Hullabaloo wishes he had commandered Parker's camera for that one, because he said it was such a funny reaction that he'll never forget it in his life. It lasted all of about a second, because then Shackleford turned on his jets and headed for the pylon. Hoo-ray!
So how cute is this dress?
Too cute right? The lady who made it does not have an etsy store, or a website, but she does have an email and phone, so if you wish to get her contact info, drop me a line below.
One of my better memories form yesterday was enjoying having the band at the away game so that we could have some for real college football team moments like singing the fight song and then swaying to the alma mater after the game.
So now my chickens, I'm all just about Over It. Given myself a good 24 hours to decompress. I gotta drag Coach Hullabaloo out to get me a Fleur de Lis Waffle Maker for tailgating next week. Although Booty made me laugh this morning that I should update my centerpiece for SMU to include 50 one dollar bills (with a thong - that was my idea). Who knew?! Methodist Football Players are into stiffing hookers. Ha Ha!
Onwards to SMU!

Third Q Mo
This Wave Momma was a trip! She got up and started hollering "Trent! Bring Me That Ball!" or "Come on Defense!! Give Me Seven!!!!"
And then Dominique Robertson got that very exciting fumble touchdown! Which started our Third Quarter Mo. So we have Wave Momma here to thank.
One of the gems she quipped was to Ryan Griffin: "The Pocket Is NOT Your Friend!"
To all our unsportsmanlike penalties, she started screaming: "That's all right! We'll take that flag! You ain't seen unsportsmanlike! It shows some passion! Shows that you care! Hell I wish I had a flag!"
Amen!
So my regrets:
I do regret that this transformation hadn't taken place during the first half, because then it woulda been a different game.
I also regret that the Refs spotted SMU a touchdown, the guy was clearly out at the 1 yard line.
I regret that Big Mike and the Greenbackers weren't there to properly orchestrate The Hullabaloo, because the cheerleaders, adorable as they are, somehow got lost and neglected the leading part of cheerleading. And I seriously had to straighten them out when some of them dared to think out loud at tailgating about rooting for not Alabama. If I had been wearing pearls I woulda clutched them.
Tulane cheerleaders. Talking openly. About rooting for not Alabama. In Mrs. Hullabaloo's opinion: It was very unfortunate. (and one word about The Game Of The Century. Quelle Lame-ness, ok, well two words. But it was in one word: Lame).
And then my final regret: when Coach and I were wandering around trying to locate the Tulane tailgating which had been banished to the opposite side of campus, we ran across some tres "colorful," shall we say, boulevarding happening on the SMU boulevard. and I regret not having snapped a few shots of what we saw.
Firsties: some of the SMU cheerleaders (thank you sweet baby jesus this doesn't happen with us) were smoking cigarettes with their non-cheerleader peeps. Yes. In uniform. Well, not completely in uniform - their hair and make-up was did and they had the skirts on, but white t-shirts on. So I don't know if they were off duty or what, but the big obnoxious hair bows, skirts and cheerleading sneakers with the little socks it is quite obvious they weren't just the garden variety trashy boulevard'ers we encoutered.
And then apparently the theme of the SMU Boulevarding this weekend was to turn it into Bourbon Street, cause we saw some of the SMU co-ed's wearing those Beer helmet thingies. You know the those helmets that have can holders and there's straws that loop down to your face? Yes, soo classy! Very "Park Cities" ...but wait! there's more. This genius contraption allowed them to carry yard-sized hurricane glasses.
Oh how I wished I had captured these moments for posterity. Because while, I am far from one to look at co-ed's sideways for having a good time, I am ever thankful that our NY and Southern ladies at Tulane have decided to pass on this apparent SMU fashion trend of accessorizing with these acutrements. In public. At tailgating.
Anyways, we are weeks away from finding out our coaching destiny and I can't wait for that!

Bye Bye to Big Hair and Boulevarding

We've arrived!
In the Big D, for the final Greenie Dat Boulevarding. E-vah. Now that SMU's headed to the Big Least. Bye Bye Now! Apparenlty we are no longer "attached at the hip"
We got a hip replacement. Yay!
Honestly, I don't know how or why TPTB decided that we needed to be figuratively attached to SMU. I'm clearly not shedding a tear over this. I see nothing similar in our schools. Starting with that usually people who don't get into Tulane, get in to SMU and settle on going to SMU. And then the biggie: they don't even have baseball. (WHO in NCAA doesn't have baseball?! In Mrs. Hullabaloo's world I categorize as follows 1.
SMU never felt like a rivalry. Like we merely tolerated each other's presence. If we beat them, which was like always, it never felt like a big win. We gave away the last two games which we should have wrapped up and won. But I digress.
Now USM. That's a heated rivalry. We are polar opposites and the rivalry still works.
Anyways, this conference shuffle has been quite interesante and I hope someday to be able to share the nitty gritty which has transpired since the stories have been leaking. But the muffin isn't baked yet, so I can't take it out of the oven. The sad thing in all this though is how random things shake out in the conference thing. Nobody wants USM, but WVU belongs in the SEC? lawd. I spent much time in Morgantown and that place and them peoples is just not SEC material. By any stretch.
My friend Tyrone Powers had this to say, and so I am sharing it with you:
..."So about USM. I really feel for my Mustard Buzzards. They are stuck in a small town with absolutely no TV market and their home city isn't exactly a tourist destination. They have a team that can easily compete with the lower echelon in the SEC, and probably the upper echelon of the Big East. But sadly they can bring nothing to the table. The SEC doesn't want them because of State and Ole Miss. Tulane has a market AND a city that people want to go to....Agreed.
The Rock is a great place to play and can be quite difficult to play in, but that's not nearly enough to get an invite to a big conference. Plus their minor sports, with the exception of baseball, are very weak. They may have to stick it out with Rice, UAB and the other CUSA schools with a merger with Mountain West. Its sad because they really could be conference contenders in any other conference."
So, SMU goes, USM stays. and Saturday we get to Boulevard for one last hurrah. I hope we leave with a bang. Because HOW could we ever top this? (I say this with much sarcasm by the way)

Tulane Fan Tuesdays

Section 143 representin'...
Actually we were just kicking off the silly season for the SMU game. Oh the #2 jokes just abounded. We just thought it was sooo funny that #2 was throwing long and missing. "#2 is stinking up the place! Throw long again #2!" Until he didn't miss and then it was just not as funny anymore. Sigh.
So to raise our spirits, I am changing my rules (I can do that since this is my blog) and featuring this week's SuperFan edition on Tuesday. Except that it's Monday night, but whatever.
So being that this weekend's tailgate menu is going to be Leatha's in Louisiana , I chose a Die Hard Greenie Dat who attended and graduated from USM. I kid you not.
side note....If Her Highness Scott Cody comes back for the USM game, we can maybe actually pull out the Brett Favre themed posters we threatened to do, but chickened out. 'HEY SCOTT, STOP TEXTING ME - BRETT' or on a similar vein 'HEY SCOTT, BRETT SAYS HE NEEDS HIS PHONE BACK' and 'NO SCOTT, I WILL NOT MEET YOU AT A HOTEL!'
Okay, so back to one of my favorite Greenie Dats: Lee.

Lee and I are furious e-pen pals about Greenwave Football. We vent, we analyze, we compare notes, we dream about on campus stadiums, we pirate copies of the 1998 season DVD (what?!).... and what I love most about Lee is that he wore a Tulane outfit for the game in Hattiesburg last year. It brought tears to my eyes! Childhood loyalty wins out over tuition payments - what a beautiful thing to behold!
I also vastly admire Lee because he has made friends with Tammy Nunez, which I am not yet mature enough to do. She royally teed me off with her "witty" banter in some of her articles last year - siding with Coach Toledo on blaming the fans (remember that?!) and then a few stupid lines about the Greenwave "getting their bell rung" in the Battle for the Bell. Yes, we lost. I was there and that was one of my lowest moments as a Greenwave fan to see our team emotionally fall apart. So we really didn't need the hometown rag to add additional embellishment. I would honestly rather "embarassing omissions" and "technical difficulties in getting feed from local affiliates" (ahem, Scott Cody) than bullshit patronizing articles. Or just offer us the plain news and save your cleverness for when you get to Star Magazine or wherever the next career rung is. (a side, side note: Tammy has since grown by leaps and bounds in the quality of her coverage. Mrs. Hullabaloo just immaturely holds grudges.)
So without further ado, Lee, my favoritest SuperFan...
How and When did you know you were a true Tulane fan?
Since I was 5 (I'm 40 now). Every Saturday my mom and dad would take me to 4:30PM Mass. There was an entire row of people in green Tulane shirts who went to church and then to the game. Every time I'd see them, I told my parents, "I want to go too!" So they took me. The game that did it for me was a thriller some six years later in 1981 against Vanderbilt. We sat in the terrace endzone and I remember all of the green pom poms waving like crazy on both sidelines, and the crowd screaming "GO WAVE GO! GO WAVE GO!" We won at the last minute 14-10 and that place erupted. That's when I knew this was my team.
What was the #1 most exciting/memorable moment for you as a Tulane fan?
This one is easy - the Louisville game in 1998. I think I shredded my vocal chords that day. Runner-up (TIE) : 1987 vs. LSU in the Dome when we scored our final touchdown to make the score 36-35 (even though the Tiggers won 41-36). Second was against USL in 1986 with the Beach Boys concert after the game in the Dome. okay Lee that's three, but you're cool so I will allow you to break the rules
Which is your #1 favorite Tulane student athlete (past or current)?
Shaun King - a true class act, and an amazing player and leader. Even a broken hand couldn't slow him down. Runner up: Mike McKay and Reggie Reginelli (I think we all know why), and Steve Barrios.(1, 2, 3, 4...you are testing me Mr. C)
Do you have any pre-game rituals or lucky outfits/accessories?
Yep, I wear the same outfit every game - jeans, running shoes, dark green Tulane t-shirt, and light blue button down (unbuttoned and untucked) over it.
Are there any past Tulane fans that you have admired and thankful you got to know?
[as of the writing of this blog post, both of these fans are still alive, so mental note to interview Lee again about dead fans] First and foremost, Mrs. Hullabaloo. Who has more passion and fire for the team, huh? Secondly is the foursome that sits in section 201 with us, particularly one of them - Ms. Nell. She is about 65 years old, and she and her husband drive in from Donaldsonville every week. She screams and hollers more than I do! On top of that, she NEVER misses a game, even when she isn't feeling well.
UPDATE: Lee shared with us his favorite no longer with us SuperFan. Lee writes: "I get carried away when I'm "interviewed" LOL! (yes I know the feeling!) And of course points off for not reading directions about the dead person question. (that's okay! I sort of feel immortalized!) Truthfully, my answer should have been Stocker Fontelieu, who received his MFA in Theatre from Tulane in 1959, and was Artistic Director at Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre for 30 years. He said, "Tulane games were the only sporting events where martinis were acceptable to drink." Gotta love it.
YES, I do love that!

No Horse Meat Today

Ha! This photo really looks like it should have it's own episode of Glee...
At one of the Tulane v. SMU games in Dallas I was complaining about how they make that poor pony run across the field with that pole harness thing. It was breaking my heart. Especially since to add insult to injury Matt Forte racked up 350 yards running that game and got named to the Doak Walker list. Doak is an SMU player for which the award is named. Ironic and insulting to pony fans. But running that poor horse around seemed so inhumane! Well DaddyS sort of made me feel better by telling me that the poor horse could otherwise be alone somewhere, in the rain, nothing to eat....But now it's being housed in Highland Park and getting spa treatments at Neiman's. Okay then. I like Neiman's Tea Room.
Sort of on topic, Kaare Johnson yesterday praised how LSU has a $3million facility for Mike. I am most certainly not down with that. That is so atrocious when the school is firing professors. But I digress....
So it's GAMEDAY (!) and we have gorgeous weather. Glorious! The Greenwave play at Home at Da Dome, and I am attempting Tyler's Ultimate Potato Salad here in a few. And y'all know how much I adore Chef Ty, hopefully all will be well in the world today.
And thankfully, NO crazy drives to Tulsa this weekend. Remind me to tell you sometime how Coach Hullabaloo somehow managed to get on a loop in Paris, Texas, we added an HOUR onto our already endless drive and we were perilously close to a divorce.
Coach Hullabaloo put together burger patties with his signature No Mistake Recipe and I have a portobella for the future Mrs. Voice of the Greenwave. Bootie Judy shared that some of her tailgating partners talked about finding horse meat for their tailgating menu for today. We don't have much room to argue here in Louisiana when we eat alligator, frog and crawfish. But as much I appreciate the thought behind being an Ultimate SuperFan TM at all times, that's gross. But thankfully the wives stepped in and halted such proceedings.
Also on tap for today is my famous guacamole but I need to figure out a cole slaw on the fly here.
I'm leaning towards Tyler's Spicy Pecan Coleslaw...
TY'S SPICY PECAN COLESLAW
1 head napa or savoy cabbage, shredded
4 carrots, shredded
2 Granny Smith apples, thinly sliced
1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
1 cup pecans, toasted and chopped
Leaves from 1 bunch fresh mint, for garnish
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon ground chipotle
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 lemon, juiced
smidge saltnpeppa to taste
Toss veggies and pecans together in a plastic tub.
In a separate bowl stir together the mustard, sugar, mayonnaise, ground chipotle, and lemon juice until deliciously whipped into a blend. Shake, shake, shake some saltnpeppa to taste. Dip your clean finger into the bowl and taste the dressing to see if it's fabulous and you love it.
Lovingly pour dressing over the veggies, cover your tub, and then shake your bootie while you shake the tub so that the dressing coats and distributes well. Sneak another taste and make sure you love it love it, then garnish with chopped mint leaves.
TY'S ULTIMATE POTATO SALAD
1 pound small Yukon gold potatoes - chopped
1 large egg
Kosher salt
1/4 bunch sliced scallions, white and green parts
1 tablespoon drained capers
1 cups mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 generous tablespoons finely chopped dill pickles with a generous splash of juice
1/4 small red onion, thinly chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
1/4 bunch dill, chopped
1/4 lemon, juiced
black pepper
Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
Put the potatoes and eggs into a big saucepan of cold salted water. Bring to a simmer. After 12 minutes remove the eggs with a slotted spoon and let cool. Cook taters for 3 minutes longer and then drain and cool.
Set aside some scallion greens and capers for garnish. Meanwhile, stir together the mayonnaise, mustard, pickles and their juice, onion, remaining scallions and capers, parsley, and lemon juice.
Peel and chop the cooled egg. Add egg to cooled taters, mix everything with dressing. Saltnpeppa to taste and then drizzle with EVOO and garnish.
Roll Wave Y'all!

Bye, Bye, Bye
I really loathe Bye weeks. Tulane really gets shafted in the whole bye week situation. They're either the first weekend or a game in.
I somehow strangley thought that Bye weeks were supposed to be to let the team rest. So shouldn't they be towards the end to ensure a strong finish?
Another item on my dislike list (yes, besides LSU and the Cooters, .... and of course UCF) is playing out of town the entire month of October practically. October in New Orleans is usually glorious weather - perfect for tailgating - and we have to spend it on the road being everybody's homecoming bitches. "If I were Athletic Director" this would be the first order of business I would rectify.
So while on the road I have had a chance to judge and criticize everybody's tailgating. So far I heart SMU'stailgating boulevarding best. So below are some photos from last year's visit to the Big D. Enjoy!

All I Want For Christmas
What I wouldn't have given for this to have stayed true..
But I'll settle for this FABULOUS card from #93 Logan Kelley's family.
Logan was an AWESOME Tulane athlete! Tulane Nation was so unbelievably fortunate to have Logan commit to play football with the Greenwave following the Katrina season. Logan and his amazing, wonderful family bled Olive and Blue. We are so proud Logan is graduating and future Greenies know that you have ENORMOUS shoes to fill as Logan moves on.
Remember the '07 game in the dome against U-BR? Logan sacked Matt Flynn for a safety and set up a 9-7 lead. OMG (!). The entire Greenwave Nation went absolutely bezerk. And on the next play if they could not have gotten anymore crazy, Andre Anderson runs in a touchdown and all of the classy Baton Rouge citizenry tossed their beer stadium cups at him. It was GREAT!
And then totally completely caught by surprise, Mrs. Hullabaloo expressly received this submission for the Hullabaloo Huddle this holiday season ~ a tailgating recipe from a fellow Hullabaloo-ette, Natalie who notes that she does not actually cook this herself. But has enjoyed this delightful football treat immensely and feels it should be a staple in the virtual Tulane Greenwave Nation tailgating cookbook. Natalie and Mrs. Hullabaloo at the Liberty Bowl in 1998.
CRAWFISH CORNBREAD
1 box Jiffy cornbread mix
3 eggs beaten
1 stick of melted butter (mmmm)
1 cup chopped green onions (yes!)
1 cup chopped onions
1 can Rotel drained (so easy!)
1 cup (8oz.) grated Colby cheese (to die for!)
1 bag frozen cooked crawfish with le jus
Mix everything, give it a whirl with your spoon, and then lovingly pour into a greased 9 x 13 pan. Make sure to scrape every last bit out. Bake at 350 for 40 to 50 minutes (or until you can no longer stand it). Cut into brownie-sized pieces and serve warm. Or set some aside to share with others.
Mazel Tov Greenwave Nation!
