This is primarily a Tulane football blog, although I do occasionally comment on all matters Tulane that may or may not be any of my business. I love following Tulane Greenwave football, zing-zang Bloody Marys, hostessing cute tailgating parties, and life in New Orleans. It's fabulous. oh and I adore Mr. Hullabaloo. PS This blog is not affiliated in any way "officially" with Tulane University or Tulane Athletics. It is purely the crazy antics and obsessions of Mr. and Mrs. Hullabaloo who love them some greenwave (I say tee-ay (!) y'all).

DefCon5

Holy Facundus Y'all ~ I have got a situation up. in. here! double underline, exclamation point.

So I played hookie and took advantage of being by Lakeside today. soooo hot and the traffic was all a fool, so I parked and shopped. Honeys, let me tell you that Mrs. Hullabaloo prefers to fly all the way to Chicago to shop at Macy's than mess with Lakeside. It's very un-New Orleans of me to not shop local - but God, the traffic.

Well my predicament begins like this: En route to Jacques Pennay to get the Super Cuuuuute Maxidress from my previous post, I found and fell in love with these (!) at Macy's on-sale-for-$69-plus-an-extra-20%-if-you-buy-2pairs-so-I-bought-some-babyblue-flops-also. MMMMMHHHHUH.

Talk about Dangerous Liaisons, cause then I had to walk past the actual Nine West purveyors inside of the mall and they have FLATS in the same version of heels.

What exactly is a Greenie Dat to do? I NEED YOUR HELP!

Cute, Espadrille Platform Wedges? Sensible, still cute, flats?

Cute, Cute, Cute or practical, practical, practical? HELP!

Egads, I don't think I shall sleep tonight. This is just as a conundrum situation as when Scott Cowen acted a fool and tried to shut down D1 athletics.

UPDATE: so everybody loves, loves these fab heels, and Coach Hullabaloo preferred the heels also, so done. Ladies: they are now ON SALE at Nine West for $59 (40% off). Now, to decide which game to wear them to.....

Shopping Alert part deux!

Super cuuuuute Maxidress at Jacques Pennnay. $24.99. Love, love.

Find online here or at your local store.

There were some rainboots that were the most perfect Tulane olive and blue combo at Jacques last season. Perfect for those horrid games at West Point when you have to slog up that muddy hill to their decrepit stadium. The rainboots were the arizona brand. I totally kick myself each and everyday for not having bought a pair. Even though I hope we shant be returning to Michie Stadium like ever again, I am sure we will find ourselves in some college hamlet with muddy tailgating sometime and I'll be prepared with cute rainboots. Bad Mrs. Hullabaloo, Bad! ....sigh.

Also, make sure you and/or your Greenie Dat man is a Playmaker and attends "The Playbook" Summer Camp next Tuesday. Link to RSVP here.

Shopping Alert!

Don't you just love these shopping alerts? I do!

So Hullabaloo-ettes, I found these cute wedge espadrilles for $20! The online price here says $29.99, but they were 30% off in the store so I got them for $20.

They are cute on and super comfortable, perfect for Tulane Tailgating me says.

I also found these cute casual flips that I am going to upgrade with a green rhinestone in the middle. $12.99 online here.

...and then, not that I don't have enough picnic utensils already (outdoor entertaining is a complete weakness for me y'all!), but I thought this "All In One" Mesh Caddy was simply perfect. And Coach Hullabaloo did too and actually purchased it for me (I was shocked. Enabler - ha!).

$9.99 at Target or online here.

I am going to dress it up with a magnet or decal from the Tulane proshop or bookstore to Greenie it up. Besides, I gotta switch things up a little from tailgate party to tailgate party.

Happy Shopping y'all!

The Seniors, and yes it will be weird

So I am finally posting pics from The Seniors 2011 graduation party.

From L to R, Cody Sparks, Oscar Ponce de Leon (who handed off the Torchbearer of La Raza to Rio Mares), Tyler Helm, Andrew Nierman (just signed with the Voodoo!) and Pete Hendrickson (signed with the Houston Texans!).

Below, the adorable dessert schmeckens and awesome koozies from Party Cup Express in Jefferson. (PCE also made us those cute "Sippy Cup" wine glasses)

We got a very nice thank you note in the mail today from the Future T Club Member whom we had gone to congratulate at the party (that and to enjoy the amazing crawfish and frosty cold abita beer).

Let me tell you, Coach and Mrs. Hullabaloo were just sooooo tickled and just pleased as punch over this display of Southern manners.

But what tickled us the most was that Future T Club Member signed off the note writing that he looked forward to seeing us at the tailgate parties in the fall (why, yes! of course, us too!) and that "Saturdays from a different angle will be weird." Coach and I just chuckled over that last line.

Cause that it definitely will be weird is no understatement. Not only because we will need to find a new favorite player and football family to start cheering for (Coach got a final farewell with his mancrush, Alex Wacha's, family at the party also). But also the big elephant in the room: what exact kind of season are we going to have with Doddmentum gone and Coach Bobby T's legacy at Tulane on the clock now.

I digress: I purposefully chose not to comment on Doddmentum picking up his stakes, because what really can one say about that? It was random. Here we were prepared for a sleepy finish to Toledo's tenure and Doddmentum up and leaves to go to a high school? And then an offensive coordinator is not hired (well, like how could they anyways in May), but instead hire Ricky Bustle as a "QB coach." To quote one of my favorite Gen X movies: It's like trying to find meaning in a Pauly Shore movie. Indeed. So I just can't bother my brain on this particular matter.

I had an interesting conversation with a West Virginia Mountaineers fan today. Mountaineer Fan felt that Rich Rodriguez hasn't gotten an offer anywhere because it was too late in the cycle for him to sign on anywhere when he was let go at Michigan and besides (according to MF), that his prediction was that Rich Rodriguez would become Tulane's next Head Coach. Whaaat?

It was the weirdest nugget of commentary tossed out there.

So with regards to MF's prediction about Rodriguez being our Renaissance Man, I actually find it an intriguing prospect. Yes, I do. I'll think about it some and post my thoughts about this some day.

In the meantime my little chamudi's: The only thing we, as Tulane Fans, can control is the grub and beverages we can put together for our tailgating spreads at the superdome on Saturday afternoons in the fall. Amen.

And let me tell you - this graduation party was IT in the cuteness and fabulousness department.

Don't you agree?

Cheers to Tulane Tailgating Y'all!

How Fabulous

So it's 4.5 months and counting til Tulane Homecoming 2011 - yay! We play Memphis. So summer is when Mrs. Hullabaloo starts gathering ideas for Homecoming Fabulosity at the Superdome. Gotta watch the Greenwave in style! It's New Orleans, we have some standards to uphold here.

So imagine my excitement when I ran across this beautiful tablescape pictured above. Wouldn't it be just fab in green?

and then I started googling National Signing Day pictures, which I think are so much fun and ran across some of these to share:

Orleans Darkwa (or as some say in New Orleans...UUR-LEENS)

Derrick Strozier

Steve Funderburk (just love love his meanie greenie cap!)

Nick SanGiacomo (his mother Tammy is simply fabulous, can't wait to meet her in person)

Anyways, it's always neat to see these pics and then see how these kids grow and turn out. Coach Hullabaloo and I got to attend a graduation party last month for some of football seniors. It was truly fabulous. I'll post some pics.

But I will tell you, it got me inspired to get hunkered down and start planning our Tulane Tailgating Soirees for 2011 (or day-ees, since we play at 2:30 all season).

mmmmm, football season...I can' almost taste it!
